Zoom is facing fierce competition from Microsoft Teams, which has been looking for ways to increase the appeal of its products. The company's latest announcement is that automatically generated subtitles (also known as live transcription) can now be used for all free Zoom conference call accounts. This feature provides automatic subtitles in Zoom video calls, and can also be used for paid Zoom Meetings and Zoom Video Webinars accounts.
The automatically generated subtitles can automatically provide speaker subtitles in the Zoom video conference call or webinar.
To enable this feature, you need to access the Zoom web portal. Participants can still privately ask the conference host to use the conference toolbar to enable live transcription during the conference. Zoom also supports manual subtitles and integration with third-party subtitle services.
The automatically generated subtitles are currently available in English, and Zoom plans to expand them to other languages in the future.
In addition to automatically generating subtitles, Zoom also provides many accessibility functions on the entire Zoom platform, including keyboard accessibility, screen reader support, voice mail transcription, etc.
